Amir Khan V Lamont Peterson Preview

On December 10, 11 Amir “King” Khan will take on Lamont “Havoc” Peterson in the first title defense, of Khan’s IBF Super Middleweight Crown, in Washington DC at the Convention Center. After months of dodging opponents and getting into twitter battles for being a coward, Amir Khan will have to put up his IBF crown against Lamont Peterson, in a bout that could literally go either way. Here is a preview of the NFL bout.

Amir Khan has basically made his reputation, by being the sparring partner of the greatest boxer of this generation, Manny Pacquiao. Khan himself is seen as a good fighter, but he has taken questionable fights, just for the sake of padding his record. Almost two years ago, Khan nearly lost hissports betting belt to Argentine power puncher Marcos Maidana who had Khan out on his feet. Since then, Khan has taken up the reputation of a chicken, as he has avoided facing Maidana, while decimating weaker opponents.

However, when Khan collides with Havoc on December 10, things will be anything but easy. The 27 year old Peterson is coming off a 12th round decision over Victor Kayo in July, that allowed him to receive this title shot. Thus far in his career, Peterson is 29 – one – one with 15 knockouts. He enters this fight having won his last four fights. Peterson’s only two questionable decisions, was a draw with former Floyd Mayweather opponent Victor Ortiz, and a unanimous decision loss to Timothy Bradley. The latter of which, is still being contested by all accounts.

Theoretically, if Lamont Peterson can beat Amir Khan, it will go a long way in potentially allowing Peterson to face stronger opponents. There’s a belief amongst a small group of boxing pundits that the winner of this fight could end up facing Floyd Mayweather next. If that is the case, things should be more difficult then when Mayweather took out his bookie software frustration on Victor Ortiz.
